Levee woes may be nationwide
NEW ORLEANS -- An organization of civil engineers has expressed concern about the levees that survived Hurricane Katrina, basing its comments on the designs used for the failed flood-protection system. Those concerns could extend to levee systems nationwide and require immediate attention, the American Society of Civil Engineers wrote in a letter to the Army Corps of Engineers. (AP)
